Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!  This was once a day I dreaded each year as I longed to be a Mother.  Now that I am a Mother, I am truly grateful for this day.  It truly is special and great to honor those women in our lives that teach us so much.

Every day, I feel the responsibility of being a Mother, and it makes me appreciate all the more those in my life who have taught and cared for me.  Every day, I also get to see the joy on my daughter's face as she learns new things about life, I get to feel the snuggles and kisses she gives me, and I get a little glimpse of the love I know my Father in Heaven has for me.

I feel so privileged to be a Mother.  It was all I wanted to be when I grew up, and now that day is here, I treasure it constantly.

On this day, I want to honor my Mother, Grandmothers, Mother-in-law, Sisters, Friends, and all the women who have taught me to be who I am, and helped me be the Mother I am.  I get to celebrate this day with a few of my favorite Mom's.  My Mom and my sister (an awesome Mom to two and almost three) are both coming to my house for dinner.  Both women have taught me so much and have always been there for me.

Happy Mother's Day!

Thank You!

Last night, when I heard the news of Osama Bin Laden's death, I had some mixed feelings.  One was, is this really true?  Another other was hooray, and another was surprising as I felt a tad bit of sadness as the realization that a life was taken.  Just like all of us, Bin Laden, is a child of God, and the thought of anyone being murdered was sad to me.  It is not my place to judge this man, nor the military man who killed him, nor the person(s) giving the orders.

As I thought about the horrible things this man did, I am glad he is no longer a threat to our world, but that tug of a life being taken was still bothering me.  I then remembered the story of Nephi and Laban.  Laban was very bad man who was ruining the lives of so many and teaching them to be wicked.  Nephi, a prophet of God was told by God to slay him.  In 1st Nephi 4:13 is gives the justification for killing Laban.  "Behold the Lord slayeth the wicked to bring forth his righteous purposes. It is better that one man should perish than that a nation should dwindle and perish in unbelief."

If there was any man who brought so much wickedness into the world, and was teaching wickedness, it was Bin Ladin.  Due to his efforts, many were perishing in unbelief, and many perished because of his choices.  I am now okay with his life being taken, and am glad it was.

I am glad this man is no longer on the earth, and he will be responsible for his actions.  Thank you to the military who has served without question for the many years hunting this man and other terrorists.  I am proud to be an American, and live in a nation where we can be free.  I big Thank You goes out to all who made this happen.  I don't know who they are, but Thank You!  This is definitely a monumental day in history.

It's Another Party

We went out to the Quinton's for another party for Alice.  The Henry's were in town so of course we all had to get together.  We had lots of fun playing with cousins, enjoying dinner, and Aydin's Tweety Bird cake.  All I can say is way to go Aydin, much better than my butterfly cake.

Alice opened a few more presents, and she loved her new blocks but more as a push cart that day.   Thanks you Lybbert family.  You guys are awesome!

Her cousins Rylee and Gabriel
Brenna and Aydin
Rodrick (6 months), and Gabriel (7.5 months) - They were all almost the same size.
So Serious!

Unattentive Parenting

I made Alice a quilt for her birthday, (actually, it was supposed to be for Christmas, but I needed another few months).  One of the most frustrating parts of quilting is the basting.  I used safety pins to baste the quilt, but during the process, the quilt was taped to the floor of my kitchen, so I wanted to finish it as quickly as I could.  This equated to me being a slightly unattentive parent.

While I was working on this

Alice was working on these- yummy Cheerios!
