Transfer Complete

After weeks of shots, and medicinal patches, Dusty and I took work off a little early yesterday to make the trek once again to Seattle to the doctors. Last time we made this trip it is not very pleasant, as I was already not feeling very well. This time, I felt like normal, except for the anticipation and nervousness.

Earlier yesterday, I got a call from them letting me know that the two embryos thawed well and were surviving. Last week I asked them about the thawing process and they said there is about a 90% survival rate. I was trilled to here that I had a 100% survival rate for my embryos.

We got there and talked to the embryologist, he said the embryos looked awesome and you couldn't even tell they had been frozen. He gave us a couple pictures of the embryos (see below), and he procedure began. It only took a short time to put them in, and yesterday and today, the doctors have ordered me to relaxed and to take it slow. It is very hard to do that when I don't really feel any different. Hopefully, in a couple weeks we will have more good news.

The embryologist said the one on the right was about 5-6 hours ahead of the one of the one on the left and it is already coming out of it's shell. You can see the shell easier on the left (the hazy circle outside of the embryo. He said that sometimes when they are frozen, the outer shell hardens and sometimes they can't break out, so they help it a bit and crack the shell for them. On the left embryo, on the top right corner, some of the shell has been shaved off. Right before the transfer we saw them again live and we could see that it had started coming out.

End of a Great Track Season

Wednesday noted the end of a great track season for Kentlake High School as they had their banquet. The month of May has been filled with multiple weeks of post season. Dusty is the jump coach at the school and had multiple people compete in the league meet. They dwindled a little bit at districts, and ended up with 3 jumpers qualifying to the state meet. Dallin qualified in High Jump, and Zach and Taylor qualified in Long Jump.

The state meet was held in Pasco, WA, and I was able to go with Dusty. Taylor ended up with 10th at Long Jump, Dallin placed 10th in High Jump, and Zach placed first in Long Jump with the longest jump in the state this year. It was a great trip, and I forgot how funny it is when you put 6 teenage boys together. Below are some picture of the post season meets.

This is Dallin at High Jump. He jumped 6'3" at the league, and 6'4" at the district meet. Unfortunately, he injured his leg during warm-up at state and only jumped 6'2".

Here is Zach thrilled with being a state Champion. As you can see he jumped 23'3". It was very exciting.

Here is Briana running the mile at the league meet. (She is the one in the yellow shirt on the left side). She is one of the young women in the neighboring ward who I see on Wednesdays.

Zach triple jump - He made it to districts, and qualified as the alternate for state. Due to a couple people not being available to jump, he was eligible to jump, but chose not to due to his ankle being injured.

Jordan triple Jump - She made it to districts, but unfortunately, did not make it to state.

Dallin High jump

David Dancing?

I personally have never thought of my little brother as a dancer, but the Olympia stake is participating in a multi-stake dance festival, and David has elected to participate. A couple weeks ago, the Lacey, Elma, and Olympia stake had a dress rehearsal. David performed in the main dance (swing) as well as a specialty number (waltz). It was unsure if David's specialty number would get into the main dance festival, so Jason & Mariah, Grandma & Grandpa Woodward, Mary, and Dusty and I made the trek to Shelton to watch David perform.

I think there were about 500 youth participating in the rehearsal. I was pleasantly surprised as I watched him dance. He did a great job. He just needs to smile a little and show how much he is enjoying it. Both of his partners were very cute, and I think the waltz is definitely the best number we saw. What a group of Youth

I am currently serving at church as the Young Women's program secretary. This means that I keep all the records, and help to plan activities. Our ward (congregation) is small on numbers when it comes to the youth group, so we combine with the neighboring ward for activities. It help to create more friendships and strength in the youth. Dusty also taught seminary for the same group of kids this year.

Every Wednesday, we have a youth group activity which consist of learning opportunities, fun & games, or service. Before we combined wards, the other ward adopted a road, and is in charge of cleaning up litter twice a year on the main road by the church building. At least one of those is done by the youth. It is great to see these youth willing to serve no matter how funny they think they look.

Lybbert Family Dinners

When we first got married, we were invited to Mom & Dad Lybbert's house every Sunday it seemed for a birthday or holiday or some other event going on. With a large family, there are not many months without birthdays ( I think January is the only one now). We determined as a family that it must be hard on Mom & Dad to supply dinner and host that often. We then implemented a monthly dinner with the family which would rotate houses between Mom & Dad, Mandee & Nathan, Marcy & Josh, and us. That spreads out the load a little, and gives everyone a chance to host.

In March, we had Easter dinner at Marcy's, and in April we went to Mandee's. They just purchased a new home on the far east side of North Bend. On the way home, on the road to get to the freeway, we saw a whole herd of elk grazing in someones yard. This was the first time I had ever seen elk in person this close. Evidently, it is a common occurrence in North Bend.


In May, it our turn to host for Mother's Day. We made a tasty ham, company potatoes, salad, jello (a Lybbert must), cooked carrots, and homemade crescent rolls. It was all very tasty, and great to have everyone over to celebrate Mother's day. I am so fortunate to have two mothers that I love so dearly and learn so much from.

In order to prepare for everyone to come over, we decided to spruce up our back yard. If anyone has ever been to our backyard, it is a very quick tour. We have a patio that is probably 10ft by 8 ft. We then have another four feet beyond the patio to our fence. Additionally, we have another 14ft by 6 ft on the left of the patio. We bought some grass from Home Depot (40 sq feet) to plant beyond the patio, and planted a garden in the area to the left. We also planted a few annual on the right side of the patio. It isn't much, but it looks a lot better than the weeds we previously had. This week dusty had to figure out how to cut the grass, and we bought an electric weed whacker and it worked nicely.

Our garden is doing okay. We planted some squash, zucchini, carrots, beans, and tomatoes. The squash and bean just started sprouting the week. The carrots are also coming is alright, but I am a bit worried about the zucchini, and tomatoes. They aren't doing so well. Oh, well, this was my first attempt at a garden, and anything will be more than I expected.

Denver

The first week in May, I was able to go to Denver for a work conference. We have this conference every year, and always go somewhere different. My fist year, we went to Miami, then Las Vegas, and last year we went to Boston. This year Denver was chosen as the location. All members of the Deloitte Audit team for Boeing including those in Southern CA, St. Louis, Chicago, and Puget Sound get together. In total it is about 60 people. We eat at nice restaurants, have a meeting to go over all the important things we need to know, and play a little too. It is a great opportunity for us to get to know the people we work with on different teams that we don't regularly see.

I mentioned that we usually get a day for a team building activity. We can chose from a couple of activities which always include Golf (I don't golf), the Spa (is this really team building?), or something specific to the area. Denver's choice was white water rafting. I was a little concerned about the timing, as the water in May is a little cold considering it is fresh snow melt, but I went for it anyway. The place we went was Clear Creek, and they outfitted us with Wetsuits, splash jackets, helmets, and booties. We were all plenty warm. Check our a picture of our group below. The water was very low as they didn't get as much snow melt as they thought they would, and we were the first group to go down the creek. We still had a great time. Traveling is always fun when you don't go very often, but I was glad to be home.
